Sound Proofing
The Department of Transport Land Compensation Act, 1988 noise insulation
regulations, require insulation to reduce construction and road
traffic noise. Everglaze are approved contractors and manufacture
and install secondary glazing to meet these regulations.
The much wider air gap between primary and secondary windows required
to achieve the specified noise attenuation makes the positioning
of the windows and choice of glass thickness critical.
Specialist joinery work with acoustic reveal linings, requires first
class workmanship an expert fitting in order to achieve this. Adequate
fresh air ventilation, without opening the windows, is also provided
and complies with these regulations The average sound reduction
achieved was 34dB(A) from a recent sample of Everglaze in situ secondary
windows.

Due to the sighting of the London Docklands Light Railway, Everglaze
were approached and asked to soundproof all those properties which
stretch the length of Popular High Street. It involved the replacement
of windows, the installation of secondary windows and mechanical extraction
vents.
